About the Uganda Project

Our Uganda Project is partnering with the Buyanga Primary School in Eastern Uganda to design a new irrigation system for their farmland. The school grows crops to provide meals to its students and generate revenue, but it is facing insecurity due to recent droughts. Uganda experiences extensive dry seasons, and the current irrigation system in place is unable to irrigate their crops year-round. We are working to develop a new irrigation system that will result in students having proper agricultural tools, the community being able to grow cash crops to fund the school's facilities, and nutritious food being provided to students who rely daily on the school for food. Since over 1000 students attend the school, having a successful irrigation system will solve a large portion of or outright eliminate food insecurity in the community. We conducted a remote assessment trip in Spring of 2024 to determine the best way to proceed with the project, collecting data of soil, topology, precipitation, and evaporation of the area. We are now in the implementation phase of the project and will be traveling during the first week of March.

Why we need your support

In the months leading up to our project's implementation the prices of materials and travel costs have been steadily increasing, leaving the total project cost higher than our current allocated budget. With your support we can ensure we have the funds necessary to fully complete the project and implement the irrigation system. Your contribution will go directly to the costs of drilling the borehole necessary to deliver water to this community, ensuring every student has the right to the nutrition they need to succeed and thrive.
